Going home ended up being a bit more of a challenge than I had hoped. Chris had to teach 2 classes the day we were supposed to go home on top of working his normal job. He left for work and I got myself ready to go home. He was going to bring back the carseat and an outfit for Lexi on his "lunch break" and then we were going to go home. After I was ready, the nurses came in and discharged me (10:30 am) and let us know that once the carseat was here, they'd have to check the expiration date and we'd be free to go home. Carseats have expiration dates?!? Who knew! We had a slightly used carseat that my aunt and uncle gave us because we thought we'd save some money. When Chris got back to the hospital, we found out that it expired in 2008. Great! Mommy and baby got to wait at the hospital till Chris taught his 2nd class, and then had time to go to the store to buy a new carseat.
I was super anxious, almost to the point of inpatient as I waited. My mom, grandma, and grandpa came and waited with me until Chris got there with the 2nd carseat (2:30ish pm). Good thing they discharged me several hours before I actually got to go home! Moral of the story... make sure your carseat isn't expired before going to the hospital.
I was so happy to bring Alexis home, and I was so grateful to have my mommy here as I tried to figure out how to be a mommy myself. Thanks mom! I love you!
Daddy finally getting permission to put her in the car
